Toa Payoh Bus Interchange is a bus interchange located in the heart of Toa Payoh. It was first built and completed on 25 June 1980 by SBS Transit as part of its initial network before being replaced with an air-conditioned bus interchange, underneath Block 148 (the HDB Hub).
The current location of the Integrated Transport Hub (ITH) has been operating since 2016; it’s also known as Downtown MRT Station under Downtown Line Stage One.
ITH serves commuters from various towns such as Ang Mo Kio, Bedok and Serangoon. Commuters like to use BTI because there are around 100 services available and they can transfer between buses easily without going out into the scorching heat or rain!
An ITH or Integrated Transport Hub serves as one-stop solution for various transport options under one roof that takes care of commuters’ transportation needs from start to end, all within designated zones – especially if they have long journeys ahead with transfers between MRT/LRT station(s), train lines, public buses etc., taxis area and private vehicles.
An ITH would be useful especially when the weather is hot or rainy, it helps to reduce your travel time by not having to run around under scorching heat or rain!
An A/C integrated transport hub can also increase footfall because of convenience and comfort – commuters don’t have to transfer in between modes of transportation at different bus stops, which may potentially cause delays due to congestion etc., while temperature-sensitive passengers do not need to go out into scorching sun or heavy rains just so they could catch their next mode of transportation that will take them closer towards their destinations.
This means more efficient use on resources like manpower (lesser people are needed) and less carbon emissions released into our beautiful Mother Earth!
How does it work?
